About The August Project ///

Originally published as August Surfing, the magazine has gone through a myriad of fazes. From surfing and summer living to music and pop culture, the one constant is the witty editorial style that has defamed and delighted its subjects. Making sure its readers could cut through the fluff and egos has always been a big part of what makes August so hot.

Now in a new stage of its life, August will soon be published as a rich-media PDF. This allows us to dedicate the pages a story needs without having to worry about the overwhelming costs of paper and ink. It will also give our readers a chance to connect with what they are reading much quicker. You'll still be able to read it in the bathroom. The only difference will be you'll have to print it first. Till then enjoy this thing called a web site.

Contributors
If you are interested in contributing to August, read it first. We will only take queries and won't read any submissions without it. We are actively seeking interviews and photo essays that portray a narrative. Our stories are about deciphering the pretense in music, film, fashion and other arts. We also talk about enjoying life on tight budgets, problems in politics and doing things for yourself. It's a mix of Dwell, Esquire and Creem (circa 1960-1970), Ready Made (circa 2000), Bikini (circa 1990) and Playboy (circa whenever but just for the articles).
