Augustland August Project

It all starts here.

Over the next couple of months we'll be posting regularly on the construction of our new home, deep in the suburbs of Montreal. We'll be chronicling the ups, downs and sideways happenings — from the planning to the final nail going in. At the same time we'll talk about the materials we've chosen and what to be careful of when building your own home.

First we had come up with a name. There was nothing more appropriate than Augustland. Since our lives revolve around everything August — including the start date of the construction — the name seemed apt. So over the next couple of weeks, we'll start laying out the details of the build and how are plans are progressing. Till then you can see we have a lot of work to do. This was a picture of the site — approximately 80,000 square ft. — in the middle of the winter. The trees are full of leaves now. Again it's just the beginning.

Interior design ideas can come from limitless inspiration. They come from nature, the city, art, sport, people, animation, color, patterns, architecture, technology, landscape. Interior designs have the floor, walls and ceiling as their canvas. There are many interior elements to design with. Interior designers today are taking full advantage of digital printing and graphic design software to create customized patterns for interior walls. One great product of digital printing popular with some interior designers today is vinyl wall stickers and adhesive wall stickers. Adhesive wall stickers are reusable and repositionable wall décor. They can be placed on any flat surface. They do not damage wall and are made to be paint and wallpaper friendly. Durable and reusable, they are easy to apply and can be repositioned easily. Reusable wall clings minimize errors and can be affordable alternatives to constructing architectural details or buying furniture accents like tapestries, paintings, murals or relief sculpture.
